JCB Guardian. A contextual project aimed at tackling flooding in the UK.

Guardian aids in the stoppage of electrical fires within homes, which are significantly more likely after flooding has occurred as connections are often left unchanged.

After flooding has occurred, electrical points are often left and not replaced. Frequent flooding can lead to connection points corroding causing short circuiting and potential fires.

The guardian uses 360 degree IR cameras to detect weak points in connection points. Guardian detects fires within a wall using ultra low frequency radio waves, the extinguish beads are shot towards the location of a fire. The sticky outer surface of the beads stick to the wall, bursting into power when in contact with fire through the chemical reaction carbon tetrachloride to put it out before significant damage has occurred.
